The Macrons stayed at a gîte in the grounds of the Château de Chambord in the Loire Valley

President Macron has undermined his attempts to show he has the common touch by holding a birthday party in a Renaissance château as it emerged that 11 of his ministers were millionaires.

The centrist leader faced more claims that he was “the president of the rich” yesterday by holding his 40th birthday party at the Château de Chambord in the Loire Valley. It was built in 1519 for François I and partially designed by Leonardo da Vinci.
